FIRE SAFETY GUIDANCE AND EMERGENCY PLAN FOR HIRERS.
Safety Guidance. THE HIRER, (YOU) are the “RESPONSIBLE PERSON” in the event of a Fire or an Emergency with the Dacre Hall during your Hire. At all times that the Dacre Hall is in use, the “RESPONSIBLE PERSON” must be in charge and ready to take control of any incident or Emergency. Your priority should always be to save Lives. Before your Event: Familiarise yourself with the location of both Fire Exits and the fire safety equipment. Inform all of your attendees of the halls Fire Exit routes and the Assembly Point in front of the Priory. During your Event: Make sure you know the exact number of attendees at your event. Ensure that the Dacre Hall “Fire Exit” routes do not become obstructed. Ensure that Emergency Service vehicles have a clear access route to the Dacre Hall from the main road. Ensure that your event attendees do not engage in any activity that is likely to cause a fire (e.g. Smoking, use of candles or other naked flames): Be vigilant regarding any smells of burning, or a gradual build up of smoke. Emergency Plan. In the event of a Fire: Raise the Alarm: Activate the nearest fire alarm call point immediately if you discover the fire. If you hear the alarm, proceed with evacuation. Evacuate Calmly: Guide everyone to the nearest safe exit, closing doors behind you if possible to help contain the fire. Do not shout or run as this can cause panic. Assist vulnerable individuals: Help children or the elderly, or anyone with a disability to evacuate safely, but do not put yourself at risk. The stair lift at the north end of the hall will continue to function even without power as it is battery operated, only use it if it is safe to do so and is away from the source of the fire. Do not collect belongings: Leave personal possessions behind. Property can be replaced but people cannot. After evacuation:
Go to the Assembly point which is in the car park in front of the Vicarage and the Priory main door. Call the Fire Service on 999 or 112: Once everyone is safely outside and at the assembly point call the Fire Brigade. The address is: Dacre Hall, Lanercost Priory, Lanercost. Brampton. CA8 2HQ. Inform the Fire Service that access to the Priory site is height restricted at 3.1 metres at the sides of the Arch, rising to 3.2 metres in the centre of the Arch in the Historic main Gateway. Any vehicle over this height must enter from the Tea Room along the paved area through the gateway and along the path, rejoining the roadway just inside the Gateway Arch. If English Heritage, the Church or the Vicarage are occupied: Please advise them of the emergency so that they can also evacuate if it is safe to do so. Do not re-enter: Do not re-enter the Hall for any reason until the Fire Service has given you permission to do so. Take a roll call: The “Responsible Person” or a designated individual will take a roll call to ensure everyone is accounted for. Report any missing persons immediately to the Fire Service. Report to the Fire Service: Meet the Fire Service when they arrive to provide any information you have regarding the location of the Fire or if anyone is still inside the Dacre Hall. Also report that you have warned English Heritage, Person s in the Church and the occupants of the Vicarage. Call the Emergency Contact of the Dacre Hall Trustees: Finally please let the Dacre Hall Committee Secretary know about the Emergency on 07784 540399.
