What’s On

Looking Beyond, Contemporary Art Exhibition
A contemporary art exhibition in Dacre Hall with with local artists and sculptors.
This exhibition is a new and exciting collaboration with Echo Events Lanercost who are hosting some wonderful art history talks at Naworth Castle, as part of the wider Echo Festival from June 20-28th June.
Using Dacre to exhibit works by local Cumbrian artists, some well-known and others emerging…we hope to celebrate the past and echo forward to the future.

A Jazzy Christmas
Echo Events Lanercost and Dacre Hall are bringing swing to Lanercost this Christmas!
Featuring new arrangements of festive favourites penned by pianist Paul Edis, with the velvet-voiced Jo Harrop and a swinging 9-piece band, A Jazzy Christmas is a new event coming to The Priory at Lanercost, with food and drinks served in Dacre Hall.
With some of the leading lights on the UK jazz scene, including Paul Edis (piano) Jo Harrop (vocals), Matt Anderson (sax), Emma Fisk (violin) Andy Champion (double bass) Matt MacKellar (drums) Graham Hardy (trumpet) Jason Holcomb (trombone) Faye Thompson (alto sax/clarinet) and Megan Robinson (flute/piccolo).
Christmas Craft Fair
The ancient hall is spectacular in its own right and has some important examples of sixteenth-century wall painting, albeit only traces and the atmospheric hall makes up part of what was originally a single room where the Dacre family would have entertained in style.
This ancient monument is beautiful with it’s wonderfully restored roof beams and its intimate feel will be bolstered further with cosy charm once the decorations and stalls are laid out.
Organisers work hard to make sure we have a great range of quality items in the craft fair. We have over 40 stalls selling all sorts of things like glassware, ceramics, jewellery, cushions, felting, soft toys, hornwork, paintings, candles, walking sticks, cards and local honey.
We also have brilliant food like soups, hot food, healthy salads and a range of fabulous cakes. We serve meals all day.
The Dacre Hall Christmas Fair is more than just a craft fair, it’s an experience and will kick start your run into your festive period. Dacre Hall is a registered charity and, can donate to their bric-a-brac table and sales will help the upkeep of the historic hall.
There is plenty of free parking and the one pound admission will go to maintaining the hall.

Greg Spero, Spirit Fingers
Familiar to a diverse array of listeners through his collaborations with the pop star Halsey and the funk/fusion Miles Electric Band, Spero has also composed music for film, theatre and television, written songs with Rolling Stones bassist Darryl Jones, and co-produced tracks with Ski Beatz. In recent years he’s focused on Spirit Fingers, AllAboutJazz summed up the combo by describing Spero as “an undeniably gifted pianist” who has assembled “a veritable supergroup in terms of their prodigious talent...Imbued with preternatural levels of skill and a high replay value"
